OAuth can succeed while a website connection still fails. Authorization proves that a person granted an application access to a Bing Webmaster account; it does not prove that this account contains the site selected in your SEO workspace. Treat account access and site matching as two separate checks.
1. Check the Microsoft account used in the browser
People often keep several Microsoft accounts signed in at once. During OAuth, confirm that the selected account is the one that owns the Bing Webmaster site or has been granted access to it. If the browser reuses a different account automatically, sign out of Microsoft in that browser or use a private window, then start the connection again.
2. Compare the exact site property
Open Bing Webmaster Tools and inspect the site list for the selected account. Compare the site’s host with the canonical domain in your workspace. Protocol and a leading www may differ while still referring to the same host, but a different domain or subdomain may be a separate property. Confirm that the property is verified and that the current account can access it.
3. Disconnect a site before switching accounts
If the workspace shows a connected Bing site that is not the intended one, disconnect it in workspace settings and then reconnect with the account that has the correct property. Disconnecting an integration can remove its stored authorization from the application while retaining imported historical metrics; it does not necessarily sign you out of Microsoft in the browser.
4. Understand what the API identifies
Bing Webmaster’s documented GetUserSites response includes site records such as URL and verification status. Its documented read scope is for Webmaster data, and the site-list response does not provide an account email for a third-party dashboard to display. Keep the linked property URL visible so an operator can recognize which site is connected.
5. Keep access and search data separate
When the correct verified property is connected, review its Bing clicks, impressions, and query summaries as Bing data. Keep those values distinct from Google Search Console and analytics metrics because each source defines and reports its measurements separately.
Before retrying, check the workspace’s canonical domain, verify that the intended site appears in the signed-in account’s Bing Webmaster list, disconnect any incorrect saved connection, and then authorize the correct Microsoft account.
